Cycle to Cape Town

I have long wanted to travel overland from Cairo to Cape Town and having spent three very enjoyable years qualifying as a Land Agent in Kent I felt the time was right for a new challenge.  The more I thought about it the more I felt it was now or  never.

I'm not entirely sure how the idea of doing it on a push bike came about but I'm sure the exercise won't do me any harm.  Whilst  I don't intend to pedal every yard of the way - that would be foolhardy my plan is to sweat out the vast majority of it.

I hope this website will allow all my friends and family to keep in touch whilst I'm away.  I shall be setting off alone and whilst I hope to meet new people on route I will miss home.

This will be an adventure, a challenge an incredible journey - perhaps when I return I shall set about growing up like the rest of you.

Having long dreamt of travelling the length of Africa Overland I decided it was now or never.

Having driven to West Africa in a Toyota Hilux in 2006 I decided cycling would be a much more fulfilling way to see this route so handed in my notice at work and bought a push bike...
